Clinical Biography
Veena Patel, MD, is a board-certified rheumatologist in UT Health Austin’s Rheumatology Clinic. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal and systemic autoimmune conditions. Additionally, Dr. Patel is an assistant professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Patel earned a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from The University of Texas at Austin and her medical degree from the American University of Antigua College of Medicine, located in Antigua and Barbuda in the Caribbean. She completed a residency in internal medicine at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth and a second residency in quality and patient safety at Baylor College of Medicine and Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, where she served as chief resident. She also completed a fellowship in rheumatology at The University of Chicago.
Dr. Patel’s clinical and research interests revolve around quality improvement and high-value care. She is also a member of the American College of Rheumatology, the State of Texas Association of Rheumatologists, and the Texas Medical Association.
